MONTERREY, Mexico (AP) — A television helicopter crashed into a tire factory and burst into flames in northeastern Mexico on Friday, injuring four people on board.
The Bell 206 helicopter was carrying journalists working on a breakfast news program for the Grupo RCG network when it went down in the city of Saltillo.
Prosecutor Jesus Torres Charles said the crash was apparently caused by a mechanical failure in the craft's tail rotor. The pilot crashed as he was trying to make an emergency landing.
The pilot, two journalists and another man were in the craft at the time.
A Coahuila state transportation department spokeswoman said they suffered only minor injuries. She spoke on condition of anonymity, saying agency policy does not permit her to be quoted by name.
Aviation authorities are investigating.
