A KING 5 poll finds 57% of registered voters in Washington state support a new proposal to legalize possession of up to an ounce of marijuana, subjecting purchases to a tax.
SurveyUSA found 39% oppose the idea, which has been submitted as a statewide initiative.
The poll of 613 registered voters was conducted between November 21-23, 2011, and has a margin of +/-4%.
The poll finds the idea of legalizing marijuana most popular with the 50-64 age agroup (69%) supporting, while those over 65 were least likely to support it (48% supporting).
