Traffic Alert: Mariners, Huskies and Sounders play Saturday

Tracy Taylor has a preview

SEATTLE – Three major sporting events are going to make traffic really bad this weekend in Seattle on Saturday.

The playoff-contending Mariners host the Houston Astros Friday – Sunday and all three games have the potential to be sold out, meaning some 48,000 people headed to Safeco Field for each.

The Saturday nightmare in Seattle begins with the Sounders hosting the rival Vancouver Whitecaps at 1 p.m. at CenturyLink Field.

The Huskies football team will host Portland State at Husky Stadium at 5 p.m.

Then as Sounders fans are leaving, Mariners fans will be starting to arrive in SoDo for that game, which starts at 6:10 p.m.

Lane closures scheduled on southbound I-5 between S. 188th Street in SeaTac and SR 516 (Kent-Des Moines Road) have been canceled due to weather.

For those headed to the Washington State Fair in Puyallup, Sound Transit will be running the Sounder trains Saturday. Here is the schedule.
