When news of a deadly shooting in Seattle broke Wednesday, it spread quickly online, aided by Twitter users who wanted to track the latest developments.

Media outlets and users took up the hashtag #RooseveltShooting, a keyword used to easily group together common tweets, to talk about the situation unfolding in multiple Seattle neighborhoods. 

For a while when it was believed there were two separate shootings, #downtownshooting was also trending among Seattle's Twitter users.

According to Trendsmap,  the word "Racer" and "violence" were frequently tweeted words in Seattle Wednesday and Thursday.

#RooseveltShooting continued to be tweeted Thursday by users who expressed condolences to the five victims, three men and two women who were gunned down in a coffee shop and First Hill parking lot. Here are some of their tweets:
