Businesses are now able to swap their Facebook pages over to the new timeline layout, and we here at KING 5 jumped at the opportunity. We like how the timeline looks visually, and more importantly, it is easier than ever for our viewers to contact us directly.

We understand it may take some time to get used to the new layout, so we wanted to explain its new features and where you can find the KING 5 tabs you were used to seeing with the old layout.

'Message' feature

First and foremost, we want you to be aware of the new messaging feature.  Before the switch, viewers had to post to our timeline in order to communicate with us via Facebook.  Now, viewers can send us messages directly and privately.  This makes it easier for our administrators to find each message and respond personally in a timely manner.  While we are able to respond to viewers who contact us via the 'message' tool, we are not able to initiate conversations with our viewers that way.

For those who do not have a specific question for KING 5, we encourage you to continue posting comments and conversation-starters publicly on our Facebook wall.

From tabs to photo boxes

You may be wondering how to access certain features that used to live in a tab form on the left-hand side of our Facebook page before the layout switch.  Those tabs can now be found in the boxes displayed beneath the big cover photo.  Here, all of our photos, videos, weather forecasts, and information on our mobile apps can be found.

Feedback

Do you still have questions or comments about the new layout?  Please send them to us by 'Liking' our Facebook page and posting on our wall, or by using the new 'message' tool!

(thanks to Nick Blackhall at KVUE.com for our great Timeline cover art, and to Kelsey Jacobson at KTVB.com for this Timeline explainer.)
