Seattle's highly-anticipated Decibel Festival kicks off Wednesday, celebrating five days and nights of cutting-edge electronic music and technology.

The ever-growing annual festival, which runs through Sunday, features music, live performances, visual art and new media at various venues around town, including Neumos, The Baltic Room, and The Paramount Theatre.

This year's lineup features over 130 artists from 19 different countries and dozens of educational speakers. Attendees will be treated to 50 showcases, ranging from seated audio/visual performances, boat parties, dance club events, to after-hours functions. This year's music headliners include Orbital, Carl Craig, DJ Shadow, and The Cannabinoids featuring Erykah Badu.

Now in its ninth year, organizers expect 30,000 people to attend this year's festival.

For aspiring producers and DJs, the DB Conference part of the festival features free educational workshops on topics varying from mixing and sound design to music scoring for video games. The DB Conference takes place Wednesday through Friday at Capitol Hill's Broadway Performance Hall.
