SEATTLE -- After Apple recently put new restrictions on apps sold through the Apple App Store, Amazon.com has come forward with a new web application for Kindle users to access their books from a cloud.

The new app, called the Kindle Cloud Reader, works with PCs and tablets – including the iPad. It allows Kindle customers to read Kindle books through their web browser, whether they are online or not and requires no downloading or installation.
