SEATTLE - Democrat John Kerry would defeat Pres. George Bush if the
election were held today, according to the latest poll commissioned for
KING 5 News.
The poll of 618 likely voters showed that Kerry holds a 6-point lead,
down from 7 points a week ago.

Kerry is also strongest among women, 55 percent of whom said they will
vote for him. It was a tie with the men polled, with 48 percent saying
they would vote for Bush and 48 percent opting for Kerry.
The race for Washington governor is virtually tied up, with Democrat
Christine Gregoire leading Republican Dino Rossi by 2 points. That's
down from 10 points three weeks ago and 6 points last week.
In the race for senator, Democrat Patty Murray leads by 14 over
Republican challenger George Nethercutt.
The lead in the race for Washington Attorney General has changed twice,
and now Republican Rob McKenna leads Democrat Deborah Senn by 3 points.
One week ago, Senn led by 4 points.
The survey has a 4-point margin of error.
The telephone survey was performed Oct. 23 to 25. The full results are
