Truck targeted for littering crashes into Belltown building

Seattle Police said officer was attempting to stop a truck for littering just before it crashed into an apartment building in Belltown Tuesday.

Three people were critically injured in the crash. Firefighters had to cut the roof off the truck in order to rescue them.

The crash happened at 6:00 a.m. on 3rd Avenue near the intersection of Wall Street.

Officers said they first spotted the truck near 2nd and Battery. It sped off down an alley and collided with a gold SUV.

Both vehicles crashed into the side of the apartment building, smashing a window and crushing the front end of the truck.

The three injured victims were taken to Harborview Medical Center.
