SEATTLE – The city of Seattle is seeking the public’s input on the design of its new waterfront.

A big piece of the design focuses on transportation after the Alaskan Way Viaduct comes down in 2016, replaced by a tunnel. With an expected toll to drive in the tunnel, the city knows more drivers will use surface streets to avoid the extra cost.

The early stages of construction are already under way. Workers are replacing a critical power grid that runs under the viaduct.

The public meeting will be a chance for the city to show off waterfront designs and see what the public thinks. It will be held Wednesday, 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Town Hall Seattle, located at 1119 8th Avenue.
