PORTLAND – A couple living near Tryon Creek Park sent KGW some pictures of a family of dear little ducks who’ve adopted the couple’s swimming pool as their new pond.
According to Barbara Amling a “mom and dad duck” have been hanging around the couple's pool since the spring.
Recently the mom all but disappeared for about ten days, though Amling said she could still hear her at night.
Last Sunday Amling discovered a nest in a terraced flower bed. Then on Monday, mom and a host of little ducklings jumped down off of the flowers and hopped in the pool.
Amling reported the mother duck has been using the pool to teach her babies how to swim and catch bugs. At night, they all seem to enjoy sleeping on a floating foam mat with the little ones tucked snugly under mom’s wing.
