COLUMBUS, Ohio -- What's it like to have been born Sept. 11, 2001, the day terrorists struck the United States, killing nearly 3,000 people?

Xavier Montjoy of Columbus, Ohio, says he's just learning about that day. He remembers his teacher's explanation of who Osama bin Laden was, after bin Laden was killed earlier this year. Xavier says he didn't really know what his teacher was talking about. He says. "And frankly, I didn't really care, `cause I had no idea."

Xavier is one of 13,238 children born in the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.

This summer, the 9-year-old's parents sat down with him and explained what else the date meant, besides his birthday. They talked about al-Qaida and the Pentagon and the World Trade Center in New York, and that people on four planes died.

Xavier says when grownups learn what day he was born, some raise their eyebrows, but he just shrugs it off. But he says knowing about Sept. 11 does change the way he feels about his birthday.
