GRAYS HARBOR COUNTY, Wash. – Donald Trump became the first Republican Presidential candidate to win in Grays Harbor County since Herbert Hoover in 1928.
“I think we need a change,” said Grays Harbor native Pat Byron, who voted for Trump.
Byron said he has voted for Democrats and Republicans before, but this year he felt Trump was the best option for Grays Harbor.
“Our county is very depressed,” said Byron. “It’d be nice to see some manufacturing come back.”
Initial results show Trump earned 49 percent of the vote in Grays Harbor County, compared to Hillary Clinton’s 43 percent.
Republican candidate for governor, Bill Bryant, is holding onto a small lead (50.6 percent) over incumbent Democrat Jay Inslee (49.4 precent).
If Bryant ends up winning in Grays Harbor County, he’d be the first Republican to win there since 1924.
