RICHMOMD, Va. (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden is telling Virginia Democrats at a party fundraiser that if they want to know what their state's government would look like under a tea party governor, look no further than a dysfunctional Congress.
Continuing an ambitious political year with Democratic gubernatorial nominee Terry McAuliffe beside him, Biden brought more than 1,000 Democratic donors to their feet Saturday night by ridiculing a GOP ticket headed by state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.
Biden says a Cuccinelli victory would further embolden tea party conservatives who have a hold on congressional Republicans.
With no GOP support, the vice president says, America under Obama has had 38 months of economic growth. He asks whether Virginia wants to risk its fiscal reputation to what he calls a tea party government.
