Washington's Democratic Party said Friday it is donating $70,000 it received from Yelm spiritual leader JZ Knight after videos surfaced online showing Knight making a variety of insensitive remarks about Catholics, Jews and homosexuals.
Democrats said they will donate $35,000 to the Anti-Defamation League, and the other $35,000 to Washington United for Marriage, the group campaigning to pass the same-sex marriage referendum (R-74).
The campaign arm of state Senate Democrats also said it plans to donate $900 it received from Knight to the pro-R-74 campaign.
Following disclosure of Knight's incendiary remarks, the state Republican Party repeatedly blasted Democrats for keeping her political donations.
