In early results Tuesday night, all three Snohomish County Council candidates were holding comfortable leads.

Position 1

In initial returns, Republican Incumbent John Koster of Arlington had 56 percent of the vote against Democratic newcomer Ellen Hiatt, who lives near Stanwood.

Position 4

Two-term Mountlake Terrace Democratic incumbent Dave Gossett had 58 percent of the vote to 42 percent for Mill Creek Republican Robert Meador, a former Lynnwood firefighter and fire chief.

Postion 5

Republican Steve Dana challenged Democratic incumbent David Somers, but Somers was holding an early lead of 54 percent to 46 percent. Dana has been a Snohomish city councilman and mayor. Somers won a seat on the county council in 1997, then lost a 2001 re-election bid, before winning the seat back in 2005.
