TACOMA, Wash. - The race for the "City of Destiny's" new mayor is extremely close in the early round of election results.
City Council member Marilyn Strickland has just a slim lead, 118 votes, over challenger Jim Merrit, an architect.
Present mayor Bill Baarsma, could not run for reelection due to the city's term limits.
