OLYMPIA, Wash. - Lawmakers may be glad general elections are not held in March after seeing the results of a new KING 5 poll. It shows that about two-thirds of Washington residents don't like the job they are doing.

The poll, conducted for KING 5 News and KATU-TV in Portland by SurveyUSA, asked 600 Washington state adults what they thought of Gov. Chris Gregoire's job performance, as well as that of the Legislature.

Sixty-nine percent of those polled said they disapprove of the job the Legislature is doing. Gov. Chris Gregoire's rating was slightly better – 65 percent say they disapprove of her job performance.

"I agree with them. They're no more frustrated than I am," said Gregoire.

The governor said she's not surprised people are upset with elected officials in the toughest economic period since the Great Depression.

She said she is frustrated with lawmakers who have not come to an agreement on a budget or tax proposal during this week's special legislative session at the Capitol.

"Get it done, dad gummit," said Gregoire.

Senator Ed Murray, D-Seattle, said voters are upset with lawmakers across the country.

"People have a right to be angry. They're losing their jobs," said Murray, "Times are tough."

Murray estimated it could take lawmakers in Olympia another week before the session is adjourned. Murray said voter frustration will not force them to rush any votes through.

"People want us to get it right," said Murray.

The special session is costing taxpayers $18,000 per day.

Gregoire, I'm a true Seattle native born Washingtonian. Those of us who were actually born here have no idea where you're getting your votes from (can you say, corruption, fraud, and abuse of powers!). YOU definitely do not represent us!!! You should be fired. I am neither Democrat, nor Republican. I am an American period! Wake up America! Welcome to tyranny. Go Rob! God Bless, and fight the good fight with all your might! Just wait until November. You're all fired! You don't listen to the People or represent them. You are taxing us to death. It costs way too much to live here. You do nothing for the People, just your pocketbooks and more Government expansion. We've had enough!!! Btw, most of us wish Dino had been elected.

I hate to seem to be piling on but wow...these people that have come to represent Washington state have truly lost it. Well meaning, progressive human beings in Washington state with their misguided hearts, on many many issues are destroying this state. Their Progressives and it's taken a president like our current one for them to come out of hiding. They are very loud and are a smaller majority than the true INDEPENDENT spirit and people of Washington state. Independents have been sleeping..shame on you! They are finally waking up and will make this the best state in the union. Teach!...teach your children. Character, US constitution, responsibility, history! at home. Police YOURSELF and the state won't have to. In my opinion these people, Gregoire, Murray, Cantwell, Inslee, Adams and Baird need a new non-political job.

This woman, should have NEVER been where she is now. Our state must come and realize that 20 plus years of the same political party is not right. Republicans are needed just too keep the Dumocrats honest. Another good question the people should be asking. Where is that 3 billion dollar surplus we had??? In my opinion, SHE SHOULD BE IMPEACHED!!!! A worthless use of skin that should be working at Mc Donalds, if that.

At the risk of having this veer off course into a dialogue about spelling, I can't resist noting that while most of us can spell, many of us -- self included -- can't type well consistently and editing went out with cell 'phones. That said, there is a theme that we've not been well served in recent years by our major parties and you won't catch me trying to rebutt that. Since establishing a new party isn't easy (but may be possible with the advent of the internet), the next best option may be allowing us to vote for "none of the above" and stipulate that if no candidate gets 50% of the total vote then we'll get a "do-over" until.....Yeah, I know, that doesn't protect us from demagogues who hide their real intentions.

Oh, thegame. How fun it has been to converse with you regarding our different opinions about Gregoire and the way she is handling our state's matters. It is clear to me, that this is a losing battle. We stand on different sides of the fence and disagree about the important matters. This is why the USA is such a great country. I can accept your version of the 'facts' based on the definition of fact. If you want to talk about truth, however, it becomes a whole different story.

mzalbo22, some things just are, and there is no way to figure them out. You want facts? Ok. Gregiore stole the first election. Rossi had the dignity to pull out. Gregiore lied and painted a pretty picture to get re elected. Gregiore did not prepare for the economic melt down. Gregiore is stealing funds earmarked from other sources to add to the general fund. Gregiore is not cutting back enough government spending, but raising taxes and cutting funds for schools and emergency services. These are all facts. Final fact. Gregiore is a poor governor, and she needs to go.

thegame - So, it's not really an issue of gambling debt. It's an issue of over-spending. Again, I don't agree that we should be over-spending nor do I always 100% agree with the way the money is used. I don't think we can place the blame on any one person. This is a country-wide issue. As far as the idea that you are putting forth - that the Governors of 46states over-spent with the idea the blame would fall on the shoulders of others - goes back to conjecture. I have a hard time believing you know these Governors personally and know the motives behind their actions. What would be the point of this mentality? There is none.

For the people who voted for her and now Dis-approve, YOUR A BUNCH OF MORONS. She sucked while working for the DOE in the early 90's, she sucked while being Attorney General, Did ya think she was going to wisen up as a govenor? She cost this State MILLIONS as AG simply because she missed court deadlines, and the DSHS payed out millions in lawsuits that could have been fought in court or settled out of court for lower amounts. Her statement about herself being as angry as the people, purely idiodic. She is not meant to be a leader.

Gregiores gambling problem is the same as all of the other states, with the exception of four of them. Most of the governors were betting they would no longer be in office when the economic crash they all knew were coming, happened. They, as well as Gregiore, did not prepare for it, and continued to spend like drunken sailors. Well, here we are. Taxed due to her incompitence in this state, and the country with a 18% unemployment rate. WOOT!

Let's all call each other names and pretend that's debate. Great. I understand why Washington government is criticized for overspending, but why does anyone think Republicans will do anything differently? At least on a national level, the Republicans have proven that they love to spend money we don't have, but with them we get wars instead of roads. I'll take the roads, thanks. And I have to agree with mzalbo22 -- if you can't spell or use punctuation, I have a hard time believing all your angry proclamations are very well thought out.

No, it is not ok, in any situation, for someone to have to pay for someone elses mistakes, or lack of resposibility or debt. Your comments on grammer and spelling are way out of line since you are of the party that promotes cuts to education and are pro hand out.

First, I have a hard time taking anyone seriously who uses poor grammar and has poor spelling. It's hard to find an opinion valid if it seems to come from someone who is ignorant, it is sloppy and not well thought out. I know, I 'm probably going to get a lot of heat for this - but I am okay with that. Additionally, taxes are always going to be raised. Regardless, of which party is in office. Gregoire sees the problems as well and is not trying to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes. We will always have taxes and continued inflation will continue to raise those taxes. Taxes are good! They help us build better roads, better buildings, and in general contribute to society. Yep. I'm a democratic liberal - and proud of it!

The People of this state are the real idiot's. They have no idea how the system works. To many people see the words more taxes and think lets vote these people out of office. Nether party dose this state any good but I would have to say the democratic party is a better party. The republicans always say lets lower taxes and think that will solve the our problems, and when they do lower taxes they lower them fore the rich not the people that need a tax break and then the state as less money for roads and everything else and people start complaining about that. When the Democratic lower taxes at least they lower them for the people who need the tax break and some of the tax money the sate uses for roads, schools extra some what stay intact. People learn about what you are talking about before you start being critical.

jackwong, Since you seem to believe that you are so much smarter than the rest of us maybe you can explain something. Why is it the governor has been talking about all these proposed cuts, and raising taxes because of a deficit, but this latest session to balance the budget is increasing approximately 416 million dollars. As for this current session to balance the budget, this isn't a new budget this is an adjustment to the current budget. Washington State operates on a biennium budget (2 years) the current budget has been in place since July 1, 2009. For all the talks about cuts they are currently trying to cover their asses because they continue to spend more than they have. Unlike us little people who have to make tough decisions and do with out some things. --- Starting with the 1999-2001 budget, the budget has increased an approximate 11.7% every new budget period. I think you would be hard pressed to blame that on the republicans.

However, the state of this nation is your fault. Part of the anger is because the will of the people is being ignored in both Washingtons. We feel that our elected officials are ram-rodding stuff down our throats that we do not agree with or have any say in. And it affects us all. It affects our pocketbooks for years to come and we are frustrated and fed up,. When we see the elected spending OUR tax dollars on stuff they tell us not to be spending it on something is very wrong with that. That just really galls all of us, especially when families are struggling just to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table and an income coming in. That's galling.

If you think this years budget is bad, just wait until next year. If spending isnt cut, including state workers benefits, taxes will have to be raised again next year by a lot more than they are discussing now. But we will probably keep voting these same people in, and we will get what we deserve.

She looks like a dried up old tuna. She is ruining our state also. Her and her Lib cronies. I just do not understand why she gets reelected. At least I can say with head held high that I have never voted for her, or for any Democratic, Liberal, Constitution stomping, lying, devious, underhanded politician. I never will. Free us from this monkey on our backs!!

The people of washington state have no grasp of what's going on. if making the hard, BUT RIGHT choices gives bad poll readings... so be it. Perhaps these idiots should start reading the bills and budget laws on their own to see what's going on. or maybe they should listen to her interview with Dave Ross to see her side. I would vote for Gregoire again if an election was held today... who else do we have to choose from? Gov. Gregoire would have to do something really bad for me to vote for a Republican.

Gregoire is an idiot to say the least, but I really have to laugh when i see the WHINEY,sniveling lil republican losers who can't shut up. Our HUGE deficit was created by the GOP. end of story. BTW, i am an independant. I want nothing to do with either party

I wonder if the politicians will be upset when they no longer have a job come November.
