Former state Supreme Court Chief Justice dies at 89

OLYMPIA, Wash. --- A former Washington Supreme Court  Chief Justice has died at the age of 89.

The family of Vernon Robert Pearson says the former judge died on February 4 from hip surgery complications while suffering with heart disease.  

Pearson was a Navy veteran and University of Michigan law graduate who worked as a lawyer in Tacoma before becoming a judge.
