King County Elections will mail out ballots for the special election to recall Pacific Mayor Cy Sun on June 5. The special recall election is set for June 25.

About 3000 voters in the city of the Pacific will receive ballots. Voter registration forms need to be mailed by May 25 and online voter registration forms are due May 27.

Kim van Ekstrom, elections chief communications officer, said there will be no voter pamphlet for the special election.

Voters will be asked to recall Mayor Cy Sun, based on the allegations that he committed misfeasance in office, malfeasance in office and/or violated his oath of office by directing Pacific police department officers to operate as his personal police force, and by jeopardizing the city's liability insurance when he did not fill vacant department head positions.

The mayor submitted a rebuttal, refuting the allegations. The rebuttal states Sun had directed Pacific police officers to investigate a prior misuse of police resources, and that he proposed candidates for department head positions that were rejected by the city council.
