A Long Island woman shot home video as she raced toward her burning house.
Alexus Stallworth’s mother, Jackie Bonasera, didn't know the house was on fire as she dried her hair in a second floor room.
Then, Bonasera's pit bull, Cain, started barking - something he never does.
Bonasera realized the house was on fire and escaped. But the dog didn't follow her.
"Then I thought about the dog -- I'm like, 'He saved my life, I have to save his.' So I just put my robe over my face and I ran back in and I grabbed the dog and then I stood out here and I watched my house burn."
More than 70 firefighters from five different departments were needed to knock the fire down.
It's not clear what started the fire, and the arson squad is investigating, although police don't believe it's suspicious.
Bonasera fears if it weren't for Cain, she wouldn't have been able to escape in time.
"He's definitely the town hero. He's a pit bull, too. They have such bad reps, but he's such a good boy,” she said.
