WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Obama says he's shocked and saddened by a recent string of young people committing suicide.

Mr. Obama posted a video message on Whitehouse.gov Thursday night encouraging youngsters to seek help of they are bullied and taunted for being gay.

"We've got to dispel this myth that bullying is just a normal rite of passage, that it's some inevitable part of growing up. It's not," Obama says.

The White House released the video, which appears on the website itgetsbetterproject.com.

Anti-bullying has been in the spotlight recently after the suicide of several teenagers throughout the country.
