Dashboard camera footage shows a shocking near miss for a San Antonio, Texas bus driver.

It was just after midnight last May when driver Mike Hubbard spotted something in the street ahead of him.

Hubbard stopped just in time to miss running over that something: a baby clad only in a diaper sitting in the middle of the street.

He quickly got off the bus and scooped up the child.

Moments later a man runs from a nearby house and takes the child, all without saying a word.

The baby was Destiny Flores.

She's now 2-years-old and doing fine, but her mother, 25-year-old Catherine Gonzalez is still fighting to keep Destiny and her two sisters.

Gonzalez says she has no idea how Destiny opened the door of their home and got out that night.

Texas Child Protective Services will determine if the girls will be allowed to remain in the home within the next few weeks.

this was in TEXAS, this has nothing to do with King5 or seattle. If you think a "good 3.0 earthquake" is a big deal here, you are obviously not from Seattle. That is nothing, we have had a 6.0 here in 2001. Again, note that it was AFTER MIDNIGHT and she said her kids were watching t.v and she was in the living room. Sorry but they need to be in bed! This has nothing to do with racial profiling, this has everything to do with horrible parenting. I wouldn't be surprised if they were drunk or getting stoned. How loud does your t.v have to be for them not to hear the creaking of the screen door open?

If the people were not hispanic, the racist idiots would never have commented on this story. When I was about 12 years old, I was riding horses when I heard a little kid crying in the field next to the field I was riding in -it was a 2 year old kid who was crying and nobody was around. I took her into my home - not knowing the entire neighborhood (including my family - I wondered where everyone was) was out looking for her. When my mom came in (from helping search) she was surprised I had found the kid - who was from a house 1/2 mile from where I found her. CPS never became involved and nobody was notified. Why they became involved in this case is nothing more than racial harassment / incompetence / and a waste of taxpayer dollars - especially when there are abused children they do nothing about. ... I do wonder why this is "news" a year after it happened - seattle needs a good 3.0 earthquake to give KING something to talk about for a few weeks.

Really? DON'T be so quick to judge!! Kids are innately FAST! And MANY many parents are caught off guard when a child starts to move on their own. Baby proofing companies KNOW this AND profit from it. SO.....shut up! Be glad the child is fine, be grateful the driver gave a flip and didn't run her over! But, don't be proud you judged and juryed someone you don't even know!!

Two things: Parents like this loose their children for a reason! Second, the bus driver deserves a huge pat on the back and appreciation given to him for a job well done! He is truly a hero!
