Woman dead in officer-involved shooting in Auburn

King County Sheriff's Deputies shot and killed a woman with two children in the home.

On Friday night, one woman died in an officer-involved shooting on Muckleshoot tribal lands in Auburn.

King County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call about 6:30 p.m. that a woman was inside a home, suicidal, and armed.

The incident happened in the 15800 block of SE 382nd Place in Auburn.

When deputies arrived at the home, nobody answered the door, but they could see two small children running around inside the home. Deputies then entered the home to do a welfare check on the kids.  Once inside, they found the woman armed with a gun.

It's unclear what immediately preceded the shooting, but shortly after entering the home both deputies fired their weapons.  The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

One deputy has been with the Sheriff's Office for eight years, the other for about three years.

Both were interviewed by detectives and will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.  That's standard procedure during officer-involved shootings.

The identity of the woman who died has not yet been released.
