Teen hospitalized after tree falls on Port Orchard home

Falling trees hit homes, cars and power lines on Monday, trapping and injuring several people across Western Washington. 

A 15-year-old girl was hospitalized with very serious injuries after a tree fell on a home in Port Orchard, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

The tree fell on the corner of a mobile home in the 1200 block of Arnold Avenue East about 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The force of the fall caused the tree to go through the roof of the house.

The girl’s father and a neighbor worked to free the teen, who was pinned underneath the tree.

She was taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

Heavy rain and wind pummeled western Washington on Monday with some areas seeing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour.
