Skiers, snowboarders flock to Snoqualmie Pass for Opening Day

KING 5's Alison Morrow reports.

The Summit at Snoqualmie estimates about 1,000 skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes on opening day Tuesday.

The pass welcomed just under 2.5 feet of snow in the last 72 hours.

Two chairs at the Summit West are open. With another storm predicted, more will likely open in the near future.

It is an optimistic start to the season. In the 2014-2015 season, lifts only ran for 40 days. This year, thanks to an El Niño weather pattern, they hope to be open through May 5.
