Seattle mom left out of Obama's immigration reform

SEATTLE -- Millions of undocumented residents will not qualify for President Barack Obama's immigration reform plan, which he announced in an address Thursday.

A Seattle area mother and daughter are part of that group and the plan shattered their dream of citizenship.

Silvia Gonzalez had hoped Obama's plan would pave the way for citizenship. She's lived in the United States for 14 years and has been a domestic worker and a worker at Casa Latina in South Seattle.

But, because her daughter is undocumented, Gonzalez can not apply for citizenship under the President's plan.

"I've been in the states for 14 years with my daughter. We have worked really hard for her to be in college and when the announcement happened, I felt that all my dreams shut down," Gonzalez said through an interpreter.
