Season's first snow hits Snoqualmie, White Pass

KING 5's Alex Rozier reports.

It could be the start of a great season for skiers and snowboarders!

The first significant snowfall of the season hit the Cascades Wednesday morning - and so far, it's sticking.

Both Snoqualmie and Stevens passes tweeted light snow was falling Wednesday morning. There was some light accumulation on the roads, but traffic was moving. Traction tires were advised for both passes.

KING 5 meteorologist Rich Marriott says roughly 8-10 inches of snow fell at Stevens, 1-3 inches at Alpental at Snoqualmie and 4-5 inches at the top of White Pass, and Crystal Mountain got an inch at the base and 3-4 inches at the summit.

Marriott expects about an inch of snow to fall for the rest of Wednesday.

"It's sounding like winter might be lurking around the corner," said Marriott.
