A missionary associated with the Free Methodist Church in Seattle may have been abducted in Nigeria.
Church officials say Rev. Phyllis Sortor was abducted Monday morning from the Hope Academy compound in Emiworo, Kogi State.
Church officials said the U.S. Embassy, the State Department and the FBI are working with local authorities to find and rescue Sortor.
She is an alumna of Seattle Pacific University.
Her stepson, Richard Sortor, attended a prayer service at SPU on Monday night, and told reporters, "She believes in God, she's doing God's work."
He said the news is "surreal, just surreal, I can't believe this."
