SEATTLE -- The first recreational marijuana stores are set to open Tuesday after receiving their licenses early Monday morning.
Seattle’s Cannabis City and Bellingham’s Top Shelf Cannabis were notified via email just after 1 a.m., according to the store owners.
The state is expected to initially issue around 20 licenses across Washington.
Due to state rules, all marijuana must be quarantined for 24 hours before it can be delivered to stores. Cannabis City and Top Shelf expect supplies of pre-packaged pot to be on shelves by early Tuesday morning.
Both stores have grand openings scheduled for Tuesday.
