Man killed after car crashes into Kent apartment

Kent police describe how rare it is for a person to be injured by a car while inside a building.

KENT, Wash. -- A man is dead after a car crashed into a Kent apartment complex Saturday night.

A spokesman for the Kent Fire Department says that a car was traveling on S. 240th St when it lost control, crashing into the first floor of the Bryson Square apartment complex. 

Firefighters were called to the scene around 6:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found several people inside the apartment.

A man, in his 50s, was found underneath the vehicle. Firefighters were not able to revive him and he died on the scene.

Family members tell KING 5 the man was a disabled veteran. 

Two people were in the car when it crashed. They were not injured.

No arrests have been made at this time. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
