Man dead after deputy-involved shooting in Puyallup

PUYALLUP, Wash. – A man was killed following an officer-involved shooting in a Puyallup parking lot Tuesday morning.

It happened around 6:30 a.m in the 16400 block of Meridian Avenue E., outside a Walmart.

Pierce County deputies say witnesses called to report a man with a gun inside a pickup truck.

When deputies arrived, the man allegedly fired one shot. It wasn't immediately clear which direction the man fired. Deputies fired back.

The man was killed, although it's not immediately clear if he was hit by deputies or if he shot himself.

Witnesses report hearing three shots.
