KCSO Deputy struck by suspected DUI driver along I-5

SEATTLE - A King County Sheriff's Deputy is out of the hospital after their patrol vehicle was struck by a driver Thursday night.

The deputy responded to a separate accident along Southbound Interstate 5 near South Spokane Street when a woman driving at a high rate of speed ignored flares and other traffic cones and hit the deputy's vehicle. The KCSO deputy was inside at the time of the crash and was transported to Harborview Medical Center for care.

"The woman who was driving was impaired and after field sobriety tests Washington State Patrol arrested her for driving while impaired. I just learned that this is her third DUI arrest," said a KCSO deputy at the scene.

The 31-year-old woman was arrested two times prior to Thursday night's arrest.
