KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. --- Interstate 90 westbound near the Grant and Kittitas county line closed Wednesday afternoon when a semi truck caught fire.
Washington State Patrol confirmed the semi had been towing a military stryker vehicle. Officials said the driver of the truck was able to disconnect the military vehicle before the semi became fully engulfed, saving it.
WSP said they were trying to get traffic moving again, as of about 3 p.m. but the westbound remained closed.
Less than three miles away, also near the Vantage Bridge, which crosses the Columbia River near the county line, an RV pulling a car caught fire in the westbound lanes of I-90.
Officials said the two incidents appeared to be unrelated, and no one was hurt in either incident.
Traffic is backed up through the area.
