Guerrilla gardener takes over developer's empty lot in Green Lake

She laughs to herself as she wraps plastic green vines on the chain-link fence that encloses the vacant lot. Every now and then she steps back to admire her work.

“It’s a goofy way to point out the changes happening in the city,” she says.

Near the corner of Aurora and North 80th Street in Green Lake, she (with the help of some others) has placed stuffed animals — a panda, giraffe, fox, otter and a slew of other wildlife — among fake fabric flowers that she’s “planted” in the ground. She calls it a mix of street art and guerrilla gardening.
