EVERETT, Wash. - A woman was killed in South Everett Friday evening.

The woman was standing outside O'finnigan's Pub on Hwy 99 when she was hit by a car.

Witnesses say the car was northbound on SR-99 when it drifted onto the shoulder, struck several parked cars, and then hit the 31-year-old woman from Mill Creek outside the pub.

The vehicle then struck another person, who remained uninjured.

Some debris flew into the pub.

The driver has been arrested for DUI.

All northbound lanes of SR-99 were closed.

I knew Anita. I saw the first news cast about the incident, but had no idea about the victim. She will be missed. What a random world.

On Friday night there was a story reported of a auto crash in the Seattle area. King5 reprted they had little information but that a person was kill inisde a building from flying debrie. The debrie came from a vehicle involved in the crash. King5 cut into the 11pm news show a few times with updates. The next morning i didn't see anything about that accident and killing; but there is the story of the single car wreck that hit and killd a you woman. She was outside of the bar and in Snohomish county. What happened with the "other" incident, or are the two stories one in the same??? Seattle area and south Everett areas are not close. Or was King5 news that screwed up?????

Her name was Anita Sharma. I have been told that the driver was three times the legal limit (.24). PLEASE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! He's facing 10-15 years as well as a lifetime of guilt.

Alcohol makers and distributors don't make stories like this part of their glitzy ad campaigns. I know a significant number of people, including family members, who struggle every single day with the dominant role that alcohol now plays in their lives. Many of them struggle to hold jobs, they struggle to stay sober, they struggle to maintain normal family relationships, and they struggle to be happy. For some of them what started as infrequent casual usage has now blossomed into full blown alcoholism. If anyone doubts the veracity and damaging effect of alcohol I invite you to visit or spend a little time volunteering at the Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC) in Seattle. It is even worse when someone with a mental illness also has an alcohol dependency problem.

Sadly this guy will be driving again way too soon. I think when a person drives drunk and kills, it is premeditated murder. They know the chance they are taking by driving drunk.

I was there. The truck drove up on the sidewalk between parked cars and the fence in front of O'finnigans. She was on the inside of the fence when the truck struck her. The dude was trashed and didn't even realize he took out a light pole and left his truck parked in the bushes next to the building.

What's so *SAD* about this incident is that the woman, if she WAS smoking, was doing so RESPONSIBLY; outside! She was waiting for a cab, because she had been drinking, RESPONSIBLY, and wasn't going to drive her self. Yet she STILL get's taken out by a brainless drunk... The irony is too disturbing for words...

yes because 25 feet is totally in the middle road and i doubt anyone cares, i go to pubs/bars/clubs all the time and people smoke right in front of the front door, who the hell would go to a pub and follow the 25 foot rule anyway? Give me a break

So...anyone have any idea why she was standing outside? TO SMOKE PERHAPS? 25 FEET AWAY FROM THE ENTRANCE? How do you people feel now knowing that the LAW YOU VOTED TO PASS was directly responsible for the death of this 31 year old woman? PUT THE SMOKERS BACK IN THE BARS WHERE THEY BELONG.

Walelia the press often withholds identifying information until the family to which you allude has been notified so they don't find it out through this news outlet - thus just a blurb.

This "blurb" does not give the woman any justice. She is not just a faceless 31 year old woman from Mill Creek. She is someones Daughter. She has a family that loves her, and friends. I am disappointed in the lack of information in the story. There were plenty of eye witnesses at the scene available to give a glimpse into her life, and make her more that just two sentences in a brief story on a weekend blotter.
