CARBONADO, Wash. - A construction accident has forced the town of Carbonado to shut down water services to residents and businesses.
On Wednesday a contractor was drilling during a geological survey when a water line was damaged.
Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is working with food service establishments and the school on safety measures during the water service cutoff.
The residents of Carbonado have been advised to use boiled or bottled water until public service returns, once quality tests prove the water is safe to drink.
In a public release, the Department of Health recommends heating tap water to a brisk boil for one minute and allowing the water to cool before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, preparing food, washing dishes, making ice or baby formula.
The advisory went out to 238 homes, a school, a saloon and a church.
Residents with questions are encouraged to call 360-829-0125.
