SEATTLE -  A woman walking along Interstate 5 in south Seattle was struck and killed by a truck and a car early Tuesday morning.

A semi-truck driver told the Washington State Patrol he saw the woman stumbling along the northbound lanes near the Boeing Access Road at about 1 a.m. The truck driver said he swerved to avoid her, but she was hit by the truck's trailer and then by a car.

The Patrol shutdown two right lanes until just before 4:30 a.m. during the investigation

@ elizajp856294451 ~ How do you know that she just lost her baby? Did you know this woman? I am SO SORRY if you did. My condolences to you and her family.

My brother also witnessed this horriffic event (he was one of the crew working on I5 near where this accident occurred). A week later and he is still shaken up. I suspect he will be for quite some time. I cannot even imagine what the woman's family is going through, nor what the semi driver or the driver of the vehicle that actually hit and killed her must be seeing, all these days later. My brother spoke to the drivers and he said they were TOTALLY freaked. Events like this are what PTSD is made of. Whomever left the awful comments above, please consider how your words can really affect people, and when they are negative and hurtful or angry, such as yours were, it is just cold and heartless, and wrong. She had just experienced the death of her infant daughter and was in a terrible state of shock. She was a great woman who suffered an unthinkable tragedy. Jumping to conclusions is useless and hurtful.

hermanmozee - I would encourage those who witnessed this to report what they saw to the police if they haven't already. I'm sure family and friends would be thankful. I am so sorry that your friends witnessed this.

To the person who said the truck driver should be fined, you should know he was swerving to MISS her not hit her. I feel terrible for all involved, the lady and her family and the truck driver who did all he could. It's amazing the truck driver didn't roll his truck and trailer and cause more people injury. I am sure he feels awful and did all he could. They are ALL in my prayers.

The driver that hit her should be fined 5000 bucks so it will prevent swerving ever again.

I work for one of the construction crews that was working nearby. My friend saw it happen and the rest of the crew was incredibly shaken afterwords. My friend said that the lady got out of her car and was looking distressed and was trying to flag someone down when she was clipped by the semi. It sounded like she was having a medical emergency.

This is very sad, but when will people learn that taking a walk on the freeway or train tracks, or skateboarding in front of cars in the dark is not a good idea. Something tells me that they're not the types to learn from reading, so if you know someone who might fall into those categories clue them in!

Stumbling? 1AM? Sounds like either Intoxicated, on drugs, or worst case scenario, had been beaten . More info would be very helpful.

I have to wonder why a woman is out walking down I-5 at 1 AM? Sounds like suicide.

Wow, did her car break down? why wasn't she text messaging for help? Last time I was out on the freeway was becausethe keys poped out of the ignition on my motorcycle and I had to go back and look for them, they were mid-span I-90 floating bridge, in the middle lane. It took a while to get a chance to grab em' up. this person must have been "out of her mind" to walk along that freeway.
