Auburn police say a 33-year-old woman was stabbed to death in her apartment early Tuesday, possibly by a former boyfriend or an acquaintance.
Around 8:30 a.m., a friend who had been staying at the apartment woke up and found the woman stabbed in the bathroom. He called police and the woman's mother; when they arrived, the woman had died from her injuries.
Witnesses said they saw a man running from the apartment and jumping a fence. Based on a description of the suspect, police identified him as a former boyfriend or acquaintance of the victim.
Police found the suspect at a busstop about five blocks from the crime scene a few hours later; they arrested him and took him into custody.
