SEATTLE – A man accused of killing his girlfriend was arrested Wednesday night, after the suspect himself summoned police.
According to the police, it was just before 10 p.m. when they responded to a call in the 300 block of 28th Avenue South. When they arrived, they found a woman suffering a life-threatening stab wound. She was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where she died.
A short time later, police received a 911 call from a man who claimed to be the attacker. He told them he was about a block away from the crime scene. Police met the suspect at 28th Ave. S and South Jackson Street and took him into custody.
Police say that 53-year-old man is the boyfriend of the 49-year-old victim. He was booked into the King County Jail on investigation of homicide-domestic violence.
The woman died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Neighbors say they often heard the couple fighting, which prompted several visits from police.
"Yeah, it seemed like there was always something going on domestic, or something," said Herman, who lives upstairs from the couple.
Another neighbor, Cynthia, says her mind is turning to the victim's family.
"I just give them all the blessings in the world and hope they can get through this," said Cynthia.
The suspect is scheduled in court Friday.
