TACOMA, Wash. - Hang Hoang lies in ICU, recovering from a terrifying attack. She was walking home from a graveyard shift at a local McDonalds when her mom says she noticed a truck following her.
“She said she feel like somebody stalking her, follow her,” said Toy Dengkhounxay
To get away, the young woman picked up her pace and tried to cut through a parking lot, but police say the driver of the truck caught up with her on the side of a Goodwill store and hit her. That's when the victim says she yelled at the driver.
“She told him why what are you doing, I have a son, I have a kid at home, why you want to kill me? she ask him,” said Dengkhounxay.
Hoang told friends the man grabbed her and tried to pull her towards his truck. She fought back and the struggle caught the attention of another man who was walking by. It was enough to scare her attacker and he took off.
Hoang survived, but her injuries are severe - broken bones and and bruising in her lung. But family members say the worst of it might be the emotional trauma.
"When she try to sleep, close her eye down, she still see that guy come up to her," said her mother.
Police say they're not aware of any other attacks like this and say if someone is feels like they're being followed, call 911
"If you feel threatened at all, by all means call we'd rather find nothing was going on than have something bad like this happen,” said Officer Naveed Benjamin, Tacoma Police Dept
Police hope to eventually have a sketch of the suspect - man in his late 20s with dark skin, about 6 feet tall with short curly hair. He was driving a dark blue pick-up truck with a broken back window
