TACOMA, Wash. - Hang Hoang lies in ICU, recovering from a terrifying attack. She was walking home from a graveyard shift at a local McDonalds when her mom says she noticed a truck following her.

“She said she feel like somebody stalking her, follow her,” said Toy Dengkhounxay

To get away, the young woman picked up her pace and tried to cut through a parking lot, but police say the driver of the truck caught up with her on the side of a Goodwill store and hit her. That's when the victim says she yelled at the driver.

“She told him why what are you doing, I have a son, I have a kid at home, why you want to kill me? she ask him,” said Dengkhounxay.

Hoang told friends the man grabbed her and tried to pull her towards his truck. She fought back and the struggle caught the attention of another man who was walking by. It was enough to scare her attacker and he took off.

Hoang survived, but her injuries are severe - broken bones and and bruising in her lung. But family members say the worst of it might be the emotional trauma.

"When she try to sleep, close her eye down, she still see that guy come up to her," said her mother.

Police say they're not aware of any other attacks like this and say if someone is feels like they're being followed, call 911

"If you feel threatened at all, by all means call we'd rather find nothing was going on than have something bad like this happen,” said Officer Naveed Benjamin, Tacoma Police Dept

Police hope to eventually have a sketch of the suspect - man in his late 20s with dark skin, about 6 feet tall with short curly hair. He was driving a dark blue pick-up truck with a broken back window

I hope... no I PRAY this guy is not a father. His parents failed miserably, and he is the PERFECT candidate for indefinite civil commitment.

To all the people who are condemning this woman working at McDonalds. At least she is working and taking care of her child and not on welfare. Maybe she can't afford a car, and what difference does that make. This sick pervert could have dragged her out of her car. He wanted this young woman and would have done everything to get to her. Thank God some stranger stopped him from abducting her. Be kind. I will pray for this woman and her family. She will be ok physically but emotionally she could be scared for life. Glad they found this pervert.

This man was finally caught and admitted stalking her and is a sexual predator. He could get up to 24 years in prison. Are you kidding me!! That's it for what he did to this woman? I bet this isn't his first time. Maybe first time being caught. Thank you to the good samaritan. She may heal physically, but not emotionally. I will pray for her and her family.

backinmyday thank you for making my point. Had you accually read the rcw you cited (RCW 9.41.300) or should I say understood it ,you would see that I was correct The website I had previously cited not only discusses the laws but also show where they can be found,It is dedicated to legal and responsible fire arm ownership, a coop of weapon owners seeking clarity and education for the public, rather than opinion of people like you who read the first line of an law and "definitly" know what the rest of pages say. Some day maybe we can cover your lack of knowledge pertaining to HIPPA, rules of an ICU, or the leagalities of naming a victim in a news story. Remember it doesn't take much to swell a small head.

Look, we have a giant class of people who have babies in order to access benefits by working a minimal number of hours. Unless the "benefits" are removed for procreating while idiot, then this will tax our country into oblivion. There is no benefit in starting a business in Washington State. Between the fees and taxes, no money is left for the business owner working their hinnie off supporting all the breeders who are working the system. That works until Ayn Rand kicks in the productive say, "I'm outa here."

@Slowpoke; "While you fools argue about nonsense, we have a guy attacking a woman"? You mean right at this moment? What does that actually mean? Are we wasting your time, that's the magic about the internet, you can surf somewhere else. So you are say that I should be concentrating my effort in doing what the Lakewood Police is doing? I think you saw an oppurtunity to take a cheap shot and tried to take it. It's evident in your post that you have nothing to say besides what everyone already knows.

While you fools argue about nonsense, we have a guy attacking a woman and he resembles the same guy they think may be a serial killer in Bremerton. So far the guy has killed two women in Bremerton and attacked and stabbed a man who was also aided by a bystander. This guy wanted her incapacitated by running her down with his truck, then he wanted to take her with him while she was still alive. Have any of you people any regard for each other ? Anyone here have a mother? Look out for your neighbors, there is at least one serial killer to be believed nearby... AGAIN. Ridgeway's co-workers joked about him being Green River Gary. Look around folks.

@ogdenaff03222773; Instead of quoting some guy's website, how about quoting a more requtable one like the Wasthington State Legislature or specifically RCW 9.41.300 . Yes, I could give you another reference to some other guys website, but that doesn't make it reputable or current for that matter. handgunlaw.us The next time you cite references, you might want to atleast make it look some what official.

@ogdenaff03222773; I guess there is nothing like a McDonalds emplyee behind a cash register taking your order while packing heat. I'm sure local and corperate managment frown upon that. Besides, I think I know a lot more about the Use of Force Continuum than you ever will, I teach it. I think you have a lot more to learn than what you say you know.

backinmyday I do in fact carry daily on my job my employer is aware of this fact the only places I do not carry when I am working are those that the law does not allow i.e. schools, post offices, military bases. I do not believe it necesarry to call me an idiot because you are unable to read or understand the law ( you might try though, the words are small and easy to understand if you try). I again will give a reference to read go to opencarry.org. By simpliy using the word definitly repeatedly in your posts does not make you correct. it is a simpelton who uses insults to drive their idea home. You are the same type of person that believes that when an officer of the law has has to fire his weapon when faced with a deadly threat should some how shoot the offender in the hand because they can allways do that on tv. I want you thank you for sharing you ignoance it not often that some one is so willing to share their lack of knowledge in such a public manner.

Yes, and if the Officer responding is really going to "protect and serve" s/he won't issue a citation for calling them... which, by the way, does happen from time to time.

@speakinfacts - Let me guess you also work at McDonalds also. There is nothing wrong with working there, but there is a lot more out there for employment. I earned everything I have and do.. i didn't have the luxury of a rich family. If I can do it, then anyone can do it. Oh and by the way... don't forget the fries. ;)

I find it humorous that there is encouragement in the article to call 911 if you suspect someone is following you. I'm having a hard time not saying something snarky after listening to the Powell 911 tapes.

@mcrain092 - So why doesn't she get a better job to help herself and her kid? There are many higher paying jobs out there if you apply yourself. Americans are dumb sometimes and don't see all the opportunities around us, that is why foreign folks do better here sometimes. There are many cars under $1,000... figure she is using DHSH to help her live, and she will end up getting more money back in taxes then she paid... So go buy a car and put yourself in a better situation. I am telling you now.. if you don't have a plan for your life, you will end up being some 50 year old that works at McDonalds and will never get close to the American Dream that is there for us all. I started my own business 4 years ago and am single with 3 kids, so don't tell me it can't be done. I did it all with no education or help, just did what was needed to succeed. Most in America are to lazy and distracted to understand that.

@RealOpinion - clearly if she had the money, I'm sure she would have bought a car by now. Sounds like she is a mom trying to raise a kid, and if shes working at McD's, I doubt shes making that much money. Not everyone has the luxury of just having the cash flow of buying a car, sir. I feel really bad for this woman... im just so happy to hear that she got away safe.. abduction situations like that hardly every end well. Prayers to the Hoang family for Hang's speedy recovery!

ogdenaff03222773 is correct, there is no law that says you can not carry at work. Many business opt to not allow their employees to carry but they are not obligated to do so. If a business owner says you can not carry there then you have to choices get off their property and stop working for them or leave your gun at home. Also you can open carry in Washington without a permit or license of any kind.

backinmyday what you "definitely know " is definitely incorrect the buisness owner has the right to deny possesion of a fire arm on their propety but must have it properly posted, I carry openly in that particular Mc Donalds regularlly employees must have in spelled out in their employee agreement your statement only adds to the constant misimformation. The statement "I definitely know that a person is not allowed to carry a gun to work" shows how little you know about fire arm laws, and how willing you are to share your ingnorance. As a resourece go to opencarry.org to learn before spouting poor info.

While in college I worked grave yard shift. Like this young woman, I had to walk to my home. Grampa gave me a can of wasp spray..Do you have any idea how far that sprays. If sprayed in the face, the person will be out of commission far longer than it will take you to run home. And its legal!

What happened to the law about not disclosing identities of victims? I'm sure the whole family of this girl are on edge because now everyone knows what she looks like and her identity. Please for the viewing and reading public, post a sentence that you got permission from the victim to use her name and show her identity, in this story.

I definitely know that a person is not allowed to carry a gun to work, it doesn't matter how many Concealed Pistol Licenses they have, unless they keep it in their car and sometimes the businesses don't even allow you to have one in their parking (property) lot in your vehicle.

OC spray is a step in the right direction; but Washington State has affirmed the right of a citizen to protect themselves by issuing Concealed Pistol Licenses. I bet if this pervert that tried to abduct this woman found himself looking down the barrel of a legally carried firearm, he's find a new line of work fast.
