A woman narrowly escaped being crushed by a tree after a car accident in Poulsbo on Wednesday.

The Poulsbo Fire Department says the 20-year-old Suquamish woman ran off the road and into the tree on Totten Rd near Highway 305 at about 1:30 p.m. She told firefighters that she crawled out of her vehicle and was waiting for emergency aid when she heard screaming.

A bystander was yelling at her to hurry and move.

“I turned my head as the tree was falling because I thought she was going to be killed,” the bystander said.

The woman had minor injuries from the crash but when the unstable tree collapsed, it knocked her to the ground and totaled the vehicle.

Fortunately, she had non-life-threatening injuries.
