Whidbey Island joins search for missing Malaysia jet

A squadron based in NAV Whidbey Island has joined the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

A P-3C Orion patrol craft from Maritime Patrol Squadron 46 departs from Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan.

The P-3C has long-range search, radar and communications capabilities, which will help in the search efforts.

Flight Mh370 disappeared a week ago as it flew from Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, to Beijing. 227 passengers from 14 nations were on board, including three Americans and one infant.
