WASHAWAY BEACH, Wash. - The view from the Grant family cabin is beautiful, it's just not safe to enjoy it from inside.
A series of weekend storms washed away 30 feet of lawn that had separated the cabin from the Pacific Ocean.
The family decided to clear out their belongings Saturday.
"We've all come to realize this is it," said Karol Grant.
Grant is likely the next of 100-plus homeowners on Washaway beach who are about to lose their property.
Homes have been washing into the Pacific here since developers first started building along the area near Westport in the 1800's.
The Grants knew their days could be numbered ever since they bought the cabin in 1991.
Karol Grant said the erosion rate picked up in the last few years.
"We were hoping we could be here until the end of our days," said Grant, "But you can see that's not going to happen now."
