Interested in growing your business? Washington may not be the best place for you.
The Evergreen State ranked 36th on the list of best states for business in a new study by Chief Executive Research.
Texas topped the list for the ninth consecutive year, followed by Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Indiana, all of which maintained their ranking in the top five from last year. California also kept its place – ranking 50th, or the worst state for business.
The Chief Executive Group surveyed more than 700 CEOs, who graded state with which they are familiar on a variety of competitive measures, including taxation and regulation, quality of workforce, and living environment.
Of the three measures, Washington fared best in living environment, then quality of workforce. The study notes that the standoff between houses of legislature has left financial reforms in a lurch, explaining the state’s back and forth development trends.
