Suzanne Black introduced President Obama at his May 10 fundraising event at Seattle's Paramount Theatre.

Black is an International Baccalaureate Biology teacher at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore.

According to the White House, Black "was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer in March of 2005 and has been battling it ever since.  In March of 2010, she received a letter from her insurance company notifying her that she was three-quarters of the way to her lifetime insurance limit of $1 million. One of Suzanne’s chemotherapy medications costs more than $13,000 every three weeks, meaning her coverage would have run out in little more than a year from the time she received that letter, and that she and her husband would have to find a way to cover her prescription costs.

"Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, Suzanne no longer has to worry about that lifetime limit. She says that the Affordable Care Act is more than just a piece of legislation; it is what made it possible for her to continue on with her life and focus on staying well, instead of having to worry about how she will pay for her medication."
