SEATTLE - Brittany Hollenbach was on her way to getting two degrees in finance, and construction management. She balanced that with an active social life through her Delta Delta Delta Sorority.

And so it made sense, that would be where a few hundred people gathered to remember her life Thursday Night.

"She came to us very itty bitty," said aunt Barb Hollenbach, "and immediately started to giggle, her laugh was so contagious."

The 22-year-old student from the Tri-Cities was walking with friends near NE 50th St. and 15th Ave. late Tuesday night. Police say a 20-year-old man was driving his car, and when the light turned green, he went through the intersection. Hollenbach also ran through a crosswalk against the light, and into the path of the oncoming car.

She suffered severe head injuries in the accident. Her parents later made the difficult decision to take her off life support.

Friends and family members gathered at the candlelight vigil, in front of the Tri-Delt House on UW's Greek Row, to share stories and pay their respects.

"She brought so much into all of our lives, we will treasure those 21 years," said aunt Kathy Madlem.

"We have to live each day embracing around us with love, and Brittany was the model of that to us," said aunt Janet Thomas.

Police say they don't believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. The driver was questioned and released and charges in the case are unlikely.

I heart cries for this child, and her Mother and Father. I grieve deeply for the lost promise she had. This girl had just spent the fall as my daughters travel companion in South Africa. This just a reminder that we never know when our time is up. I again feel the loss of my daughter that would have been this girls age today, and cry even more. Just for what is lost to all of us. With love Christina
