SEATTLE – Two climbers who were reported missing near Alpental at Snoqualmie Summit were found safe on Sunday.

Bret Webb and David Goodwin of Everett were due back Saturday night from a climb on Chair Peak near the Alpental ski area.

The men are experienced climbers but they had never climbed Chair Peak before. Goodwin said he and Webb rappelled down the wrong side and it was dark by the time they got to Melakwa Lake and they couldn't find the trail.

"We hiked all night to stay warm, just did the best we could until it got light and we could find the trail and get out," said Goodwin.

On Sunday afternoon, the two were able to get to a place where they could use their cell phones and one of them called his wife to tell her where they were.

"It was the best and the worst climbing experience we've ever had," said Webb. "It was the best because it was an incredibly good climb, and the worst because we had to spend the night up there."

The incorrect use of 'there', 'their', and 'they're' is a liberal plot by the Obama administration.

These two young men should have been worse husbands and much better citizens. They could have told their families to cool their jets until Sunday evening, because they might be running overtime on their adventure. No search necessary! I do this all the time (running overtime) so that's why I never tell anyone I am going out. Somehow, I manage to extricate myself.

Oh my! No, 'their' is NOT spelled 'thier'. I recommend you go back to elementary school!

The proofreading of stories on KING5.com has sure been poor to say the least. More and more comments have been pointing this out. I will be the first to admit that I am not a grammar whiz, but as 'lorig' said, these are professional journalists. What ever happened to the bill, that was suppose to require insurance if you engage in this type of hazardous hobby? I do hope they find them and they are OK, but I am not on board with my tax dollars being spent to find them.

Professional journalists should know the difference between they're, their, and there. My 2nd grader is learning this now. It may seem like I am being a crank, but it distracts the reader from the story and lessens the credibility of the article.

The extreme conditions up there are clearly a plot by the Obama administration.

Why do people pick this time of the year to do extreme sport and then go missing in the middle of nowhere under ten feet of snow?
