SEATTLE – Two Seattle police officers were taken to the hospital Monday night after an undercover drug bust went sour.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. on Second Avenue between Pike and Pine Streets during what is called a buy-bust. That's when an undercover team stands by as an officer or an informant buys the drugs, then an arrest team swoops in for the takedown.
In this case, police say the takedown did not go as planned.
"Came around the corner. Four officers had one suspect down. One had another suspect down and as that was playing out, more cops was rushing in," said a witness.
Another witness says he saw a suspect being tased, then the commotion started.
Seattle police spokesperson Renee Witt says the two officers have non-life threatening injuries. Three suspects are in custody and none are believed to be on the loose.
