TUMWATER, Wash. – It has no running water, or electricity.  It has exposed beams and insulation.

But the space, near Olympia’s airport, is a palace for Jennifer Myrick.

“It’s a perfect sized space for us, it’s a good location,” said Myrick, who runs the Capitol Kids Connection, a non-profit dedicated to helping foster children. The office space serves as her warehouse, for distributing coats, shoes and school supplies to kids in a four-county area.

She’s been using the spot in the Old Towne Plaza, rent free, for three years.  But last week, she said her landlord told her it was time to move out.

“They need to rent it,” said Myrick, who holds no grudges.  “I just don’t know what to do.”

She said she hopes to find another location within the next few days. But if not, her connection could be cut off, just as school begins, and before the holiday season.

“I really truly don’t have a lot of options, and I haven’t had a miracle at this point,” said Myrick.

Myrick said she learned the news just as she was preparing for the holiday distribution.
